Productised products vs Claude Artifacts
When to use a quick Claude Artifact and when you need a real Productised product — the difference, the limits, and why Productised wins for lead-gen funnels.
Claude can build you a beautiful interactive scorecard, quiz, or calculator as an Artifact in seconds. So a fair question: why use Productised at all?
Short answer: an Artifact is something you make and show. A Productised product is something your customers use that feeds your business — it's hosted under your brand, it captures every lead, and it gives each person their own AI-personalised result. For a one-off demo, an Artifact is perfect. For a lead-generation funnel, you need the machine behind it.
The core difference
A Claude Artifact is a self-contained file Claude generates — HTML, a React component, an SVG, a document. It renders in Claude's side panel and you can share it as a link. It's brilliant for prototyping and for showing one person one thing, right now.
A Productised product is a hosted, multi-tenant application: a conversational intake that strangers complete at your own URL, an AI agent that enriches each submission into structured data, a personalised result page rendered per respondent, and a lead database with scoring, segments, and CRM hooks behind it all.
The Artifact is the page. Productised is the page plus the entire funnel that runs it.
Side by side
| Claude Artifact | Productised product | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A generated file (HTML/React/doc) | A hosted lead-gen product |
| Where it lives | Claude's panel / a shared link | Your URL, your custom domain |
| Captures leads? | No — nothing is stored for you | Every submission saved as a lead you own |
| Personalised per person? | Same artifact for everyone (any interactivity is client-side and forgotten) | Each respondent gets their own AI-enriched, stored result page |
| AI in the loop | One-time generation when you make it | A live agent enriches every submission into structured fields |
| Design control | AI builds it | You design the frame; AI fills the blanks per person |
| Lead management | None | Scoring, segments, tags, pipeline, hot-lead detection |
| Integrations | None | Webhooks, Zapier, and live MCP connections (HubSpot, Notion, Slack…) |
| Analytics | None | Completion rates, segment breakdowns, per-product trends |
| Branding | Claude chrome | Your brand, themes, SEO, custom domain |
| Security & scale | Sandbox; no server secrets, no auth, no limits | Tenant isolation, server-side keys, submission caps |
| Editing later | Regenerate from scratch | Targeted edits, hosted updates, version stays live |
| Best for | Demos, prototypes, one-off shares | Lead magnets, assessments, scorecards, intake funnels |
Where Artifacts genuinely win
We're not going to pretend otherwise — reach for an Artifact when:
- You want to prototype or show an idea to one person immediately, with zero setup.
- It's a throwaway calculator, mockup, or internal tool that doesn't need to capture anyone.
- You don't need the result stored, scored, or followed up.
If "make something and show it" is the whole job, an Artifact is the faster tool. Productised is for when that something needs to run as part of your business.
Where Artifacts fall short for a funnel
A lead-generation tool has requirements an Artifact structurally can't meet:
- No lead capture. When a stranger fills in an Artifact, nothing is saved to you. No email, no answers, no record. A lead magnet that captures no leads isn't a lead magnet. Productised stores every submission as a lead you own.
- No per-respondent results. An Artifact is one shared thing everyone sees. It can't give Sarah a "82 — Peak Ready" page and Tom a "64 — Building Base" page, each saved and retrievable. Productised renders and stores a unique AI-personalised page for every respondent.
- No AI enrichment per submission. The AI built the Artifact once. It doesn't re-run for each visitor to score their answers and write their personalised insights. A Productised agent does exactly that — every time.
- No CRM or follow-up. No tags, no pipeline, no hot-lead alerts, no webhook to your email tool. Productised has the whole lead layer.
- No hosting under your brand. No custom domain, no SEO, no submission caps, no analytics. It's a Claude link, not your product.
- No secure backend. Artifacts run in a sandbox — they can't safely hold API keys, authenticate, or rate-limit. A public lead tool needs all three.
Why Productised wins for this use case
Productised's edge isn't design or AI generation — Claude is excellent at both, and Productised happily uses Claude (and Claude Design) for them. The edge is the runtime and the data layer: hosting a public, stateful tool your prospects actually use, capturing and scoring their submissions, rendering a personalised result for each one, and wiring it into your funnel.
And crucially, Productised keeps you in control of the design. You build the frame — a polished, on-brand result page — and the AI only fills the blanks with each person's data. That's why Productised result pages look designed, not AI-generated, and it's the opposite of asking an AI to generate an entire page from scratch every time.
Rule of thumb: if you just need to show someone a thing, make an Artifact. If you need a thing your prospects use, that captures them and personalises for them, build a Productised product.
