Claude Is Becoming the Small Business OS
Claude for Small Business puts AI inside the way a business runs. Here is why the customer-facing side of the journey still needs something of its own.

Anthropic is making a significant move into small business. Its latest Claude for Small Business release adds 43 workflows and 27 new integrations with tools including Shopify, Salesforce, TikTok, Zoom, Xero, Gusto, Square, Stripe and Zapier. Anthropic says Claude for Small Business has now been installed more than 900,000 times since launching in May, while feedback from more than 1,000 small-business owners helped shape the latest release. The direction is becoming increasingly clear. Claude is moving beyond being a place to ask questions and generate content and into a place where businesses can bring together their information, tools and workflows and actually get work done.
That is a significant change for small businesses. But there is an important part of the customer journey that sits outside Claude.
The business owner has Claude. Their customer doesn't.
Claude inside. Productised outside.
The new Small Business plugin puts Claude directly into the business's existing workflows. An owner can connect the tools they already use, give Claude access to relevant business information and use pre-built or customised workflows to handle tasks such as lead generation, inbound enquiries, proposals, reporting and financial analysis. Anthropic's training materials show how the plugin can be installed and configured inside Claude Cowork, with businesses able to customise the workflows around their own needs. For the owner, that makes Claude increasingly useful as an operating layer for the business. But consider what happens on the other side of the interaction.
A potential customer lands on a consultant's website at 11pm while comparing three different firms. They aren't going to install a Claude plugin, connect the consultant's CRM or open Cowork. They are simply trying to work out whether the consultant understands their problem and whether they might be able to help.
This is where Productised fits alongside Claude.
Productised gives businesses a way to take the intelligence, knowledge and methodology they use internally and turn it into a branded, public-facing experience for prospects and clients. That experience can live on the business's own domain, capture information about the person using it and generate a personalised outcome without requiring that person to have a Claude account or even know that Claude is powering it.
The distinction is simple: Claude is becoming the environment where the business works with AI, while Productised gives that business a way to put AI to work in front of its customers.
From lead capture to lead value
Traditional lead generation usually asks a prospect to provide information in exchange for something relatively generic — a PDF, checklist, score or email sequence. The business gets the lead, and the prospect gets something that may or may not be particularly useful to them.
Productised changes the exchange by making the information itself part of the experience. A prospect can answer questions about their business, situation or goals and receive something that has been generated specifically for them.
A consultant might create a diagnostic that identifies the biggest constraints in a business. A coach could create a readiness assessment and action plan. An agency could build an audit that highlights opportunities for a prospective client. A professional services firm could create a calculator or recommendation tool that helps someone make a decision.
The format can vary, but the underlying process stays the same: the prospect provides information about their situation, the business provides its expertise and methodology, and Claude provides the reasoning required to bring those two things together.
They tell you what matters. You bring the expertise. AI turns the two into something useful.
That creates a different kind of lead-generation experience. The business learns more about the prospect and what they need, while the prospect gets an immediate demonstration of the value the business can provide. Instead of asking for someone's information first and promising value later, the value becomes part of the reason for engaging in the first place.
The prospect doesn't need another AI
This distinction matters because the person interacting with a Productised experience is not necessarily an AI user.
They might use Claude every day. They might never have opened an AI assistant before. It doesn't matter.
They don't need to understand models, prompts, MCP or integrations. They simply visit a branded URL, answer the questions the business has chosen to ask and receive a useful result.
That result is also specific to the business. It can reflect the company's methodology, criteria, recommendations, terminology and next steps rather than producing a generic answer that could have come from any AI assistant.
This is particularly important for professional services, where the value isn't simply having access to information. The value comes from knowing how to interpret a situation, what matters, what doesn't, and what someone should do next.
Productised gives businesses a way to make that expertise part of the customer experience while still keeping the human relationship at the centre.
A real example of where this is heading
Anthropic's announcement already contains some good examples of what Claude can do once it is connected to a small business's existing systems.
Mothership Coffee Roasters connected its point-of-sale system, QuickBooks, Slack and email to Claude and uses it for forecasting and weekly planning across six cafés. HireEffect used Claude to identify 16 transactions responsible for a $13,000 discrepancy and created a reporting workflow that reduced a task that previously took around two hours each month to roughly ten seconds. Anthropic's small-business examples
These examples show Claude becoming operational infrastructure inside a business. It can bring together information that previously lived across different systems and help the owner turn that information into decisions and actions.
Productised applies the same underlying intelligence to a different part of the journey.
Imagine a business using Claude to understand its sales pipeline and prepare for new enquiries, while its website uses Productised to help those prospects understand their own situation. The prospect could complete a diagnostic, receive a personalised assessment based on the company's methodology and then choose whether to take the next step.
The business gets better information about the person before the conversation, while the prospect gets something useful before being asked to become a customer.
The AI is working on both sides of the relationship, but the experiences are designed for completely different audiences.
Why MCP matters
This is where MCP becomes particularly interesting.
Anthropic's Small Business plugin demonstrates a broader shift towards AI working across the tools and information a business already uses. Rather than building a completely separate AI environment for every workflow, businesses can connect their existing systems to Claude and allow it to work across them. The plugin can also be customised with business-specific skills and workflows. Claude for Small Business plugin tutorial
Productised fits into that ecosystem without trying to replace it.
A business can use Claude to work with its internal information, CRM, email, financial systems and other tools, while Productised turns that intelligence into a customer-facing experience. The prospect doesn't need access to the underlying systems and doesn't need to become a Claude user. They simply interact with the experience the business has created.
That separation is important. The customer-facing experience needs to belong to the business. It needs the company's branding and domain, its methodology and criteria, its questions and data capture, and its chosen next step. Claude provides the intelligence underneath it; Productised packages that intelligence into something a business can actually put in front of another person.
The next layer of AI software
As foundation models become more capable, the opportunity for AI software is changing.
It is becoming harder to justify a standalone product simply because it can summarise a document, analyse some information or generate a report. Claude and other foundation models can increasingly do those things directly.
The more interesting opportunity is to build useful business capabilities around that intelligence.
Anthropic is making it easier for small businesses to bring their internal operations into Claude. Productised takes the next step by giving those businesses a way to bring the same intelligence into their customer experience.
The result is a much more connected model of how a business can use AI. Claude can help the business understand information, make decisions and get work done, while Productised can turn that knowledge into an experience that helps a prospect understand their own situation and see the value of working with the business.
Inside the business, Claude turns information into action. In front of the customer, Productised turns information into value.
That's the role Productised is building around Claude.
The business gets increasingly capable AI without needing another AI platform. The customer gets a simple, branded experience without needing to know anything about the technology behind it.
And as Claude gets better at understanding context, reasoning and producing useful work, the experiences businesses can create with Productised get better too.
Claude thinks. Productised delivers.
If you're already using Claude to run more of your business, Productised gives you a way to put that intelligence in front of the people you want to do business with.
